This date in Michigan History:   February 4, 1864
Governor Blair approves a resolution that recommends the reelection of President Lincoln.

This unusual resolution had passed the House on January 28 and the Senate the following day. It expressed confidence in President Lincoln and recommended "him to the nation as the people's candidate for the presidency for another term, subject to the decision of a national convention." Also on this date, both houses of legislature passed a resolution reaffirming Michigan's "unalterable attachment to the Government, the Constitution and the Union, and their undying hostility to the rebellion" and their support of the national government to bring the war to an end.
