Help children read, learn and LOVE Michigan

Reading is key to learning. We enthusiastically provide an essential ingredient to reading—well-written, meaningful, fun texts that grab kids’ attention.

Michigan History for Kids magazine has proven to be a valuable resource in teaching both history and literacy skills. It’s won a 2005 Parents’ Choice Recommended Award, 2006 and 2007 Parents' Choice Approved Award and has received countless accolades from parents, students and teachers.

In 2000, the Michigan legislature appropriated the seed money that created Michigan History for Kids. The magazine was delivered free to every fourth grader in Michigan for two years. Then budget restrictions forced us to make it available only by subscription. That means many teachers and students miss out on Michigan History for Kids benefits:

  • Material that makes kids want to read

  • Something each child can take home and call his or her own

  • Knowledge that expands children’s horizons and builds loyalty to our state

  • Ideas for classroom activities that enhance the learning experience

The cost to sponsor a classroom with a one-year subscription to Michigan History for Kids is $225 (30 copies each of four issues).

It is quick and easy to sponsor a classroom with a gift subscription--simply fill out the form and mail it to us with your payment. Your donation is fully tax-deductible.
